IMHO the difference is that anyone can toss treats, but ACTUAL CHARACTER is required to practice Cesar's method. If you can't achieve a "calm, assertive, relaxed manner", and most people can't, then you will have little success with Cesar's method. If you can, then you will have a stable relationship with your dog, based on mutual respect, not a pocket full of weenie-treets.
With appropriate modification, works better for kids too.
Plus you will feel and do much better in your everyday interactions with all species (but now I'm gushing). You know that Fedex commercial in which one guy has an idea, but no one pays attention until the guy with the attitude says the same thing? That's what's at work here.
Not aggressive, assertive. close(-)
